The Italian footwear designer Sergio Rossi has died at the age of 84, leaving behind the traces of his shoe expertise.
Celebrated Italian shoe designer Sergio Rossi has died at the age of 84 from complications over novel coronavirus.
Sergio lived in Italy’s Cesena, one of the regions which was affected by Coronavirus. Riccardo Sciutto, CEO of the Sergio Rossi Group, taking it to Instagram shared the news of the demise,
“Today everyone at Sergio Rossi joins me in remembering our dear Sergio, the inspiring founder of our dream. Sergio Rossi was a master, and it is my great honor to have met him and gotten to present him the archive earlier this year. His vision and approach will remain our guide in the growth of the brand and the business. He loved women and was able to capture a woman’s femininity in a unique way, creating the perfect extension of a woman’s leg through his shoes. Our long and glorious history started from his incredible vision and we’ll remember his creativity forever.”
Rossi was born in 1935 and his father profession of shoemaking at a very early age of 14. According to Vogue, he started making sandals, which was sold on beaches of Rimini and to boutiques in Bologna.
Within couple of year Sergio Rossi became a signature on shoes. It was considered to be synonymous with Italian quality and classic feminine designs. His shoes were known for the use of geometrics and colour. Gradually in the 1970s, the brand collaborated with fashion designers, including Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, and Azzedine Alaïa.
An inspiration to many Sergio Rossi got into the mainstream with Milan Fashion Shows and later expanded the brand to various cities including the in Turin, Florence, Rome, Brussels, New York City, Los Angeles, and London.
Sergio Rossi brand also produces leather handbags, and in 2012 it launched its bridal collection of shoes.
Various other celebrities took to twitter sharing condolences to the legend shoemaker.
