Following on from its involvement with football, golf, boxing, athletics, tennis, Formula 1, and many other sports, Hublot is now entering the world of judo. With its pioneering spirit, Hublot is renowned for its desire to constantly break new ground and conquer new worlds. The luxury watch manufacturer has now teamed up with top German judoka Alexander Wieczerzak to launch a Special Edition for the world of judo – the Big Bang Unico Judo.
Hublot has always been involved in a wide variety of sports, so a correspondingly broad range of sportspeople are part of the Hublot family. They include some of the world’s top athletes, such as Kylian Mbappé, Pelé and Maradona, José Mourinho, Usain Bolt, Dustin Johnson and Justin Rose, Floyd Mayweather, and many more. Now Hublot is delighted to welcome a new member of the family: judo World Champion, Alexander Wieczerzak.
Success, willpower, hard work, ability to push the limits and pursuing one’s own path to achieve the extraordinary… all of this connects Hublot and the exceptional athletes who belong to the luxury watchmaker’s family. Alexander Wieczerzak, a member of the German national judo team since 2012, also embodies and lives these values.
Wieczerzak is a champion in his class and a true fighter who never gives up and always pushes himself to the limit. In the Olympic year 2016 he fell seriously ill with dengue fever and a broken rib destroyed his dream of competing at the Rio Olympics, but by 2017 he was back stronger than ever. He fought his way back to conquer the world of judo. Wieczerzak was the first member of the German Judo Federation to win a gold medal in 14 years. Just one year later, Wieczerzak was the only German athlete to win another World Championship medal in Baku in 2018. He now has his sights firmly set on the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
Big Bang Unico Judo
Hublot has collaborated with World Champion Alexander Wieczerzak to launch a Special Edition, the Big Bang Unico Judo. The striking 45mm case of the Big Bang Unico Judo is made of titanium and features a geometric design. Its sporty look is rounded off by a black dial and two straps – a black strap made of fine fabric with seven decorative seams, and a white calfskin strap with red decorative seams. At the heart of the Special Edition beats Hublot’s own patented movement – UNICO.
The back of the case of this 50-piece limited edition is engraved with the words Special Edition XX/50 and Wieczerzak’s logo. Each watch comes in a specially made box and includes an original autographed card and a black judo belt embroidered with HUBLOT on one side and Alexander Wieczerzak on the other.
