Located in the city of Delhi, the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI Airport) serves the city of New Delhi. With the rapid increase in the number of airlines and passengers, the airport has grown a lot during the past decade since 2007. The airport which is located in Palam, is 16km from the New Delhi city centre and is spread over an area of 2,066 hectors.
It caters to around 56 international airlines and 8 domestic airlines, connecting 120 destinations. With the current infrastructure and facilities, the IGI Airport is capable of handling over 60 million passengers per annum.

In addition to this, the Indira Gandhi International Airport is also counted one of the busiest airports according to the 2016 statistics, with the peak runway capacity of 64 aircrafts movements per hour.
It is also one of the largest airports with an average capacity of 10,000 passengers at peak hours at the Terminal 3.
The Indira Gandhi International Airport has become Asia-Pacific’s only and one of the world’s few airports to achieve a carbon neutral status.
Terminals
Presently there are two active terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, where terminal 1 is used by the low-cost carriers (IndiGo, GoAir, SpiceJet). The terminal 1 is divided in Terminal 1-C and Terminal 1-D, which is used for domestic arrival and departure respectively.
Terminal 3 caters to all the international flights and some of the domestic flights according to the type of the carrier. It is one of the biggest terminals in the world which was open in 2010.
