In the world of luxury automobiles, Jaguar has always commanded reverence, not merely for its engineering acumen but for its capacity to evoke a visceral, almost primal connection with its admirers. And now, as the brand embarks on a bold transformation, Jaguar unveils its pièce de résistance: the Type 00. Revealed during the high-octane buzz of Miami Art Week, this dramatic design vision is more than just a concept—it’s a manifesto of what Jaguar aims to be in its electrified future.
Monikered “Type Zero Zero,” this avant-garde creation distils Jaguar’s ethos of Exuberant Modernism— signalling a departure from the expected and a reawakening of its legendary “Copy Nothing” philosophy. Its languid bonnet, sweeping roofline, and arresting fastback silhouette, juxtaposed with 23-inch alloy wheels, form a vision that is quintessentially Jaguar: bold, elegant, and fearless.
A New Design Language
From its flush surfaces and glassless tailgate to a panoramic roof seamlessly integrated into the body, the car is a sculpture on wheels. Its dramatic proportions are complemented by theatrical design touches, such as the laser-etched brass “leaper” plaques that cleverly reveal rear-facing cameras.
The debut also introduced two distinctive colourways: the vibrant “Miami Pink,” a nod to the city’s iconic Art Deco architecture, and the understated yet striking “London Blue,” a tribute to Jaguar’s British heritage.
But the Type 00 isn’t just about aesthetics. Built on Jaguar’s new dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA), it paves the way for the brand’s first reimagined production car—a four-door electric GT set to debut in 2025. With a target range of 770 kilometers (478 miles) on the WLTP cycle and rapid charging capabilities that add 321 kilometers (200 miles) in just 15 minutes, Jaguar is proving that beauty and brawn can coexist.
Interiors That Inspire
The drama doesn’t stop at the exterior. Step inside, and you’re greeted by an interior that redefines modern luxury. The butterfly doors and pantograph tailgate reveal a cabin adorned with travertine stone, hand-finished brass, and woven textiles. It’s a symphony of unexpected materials crafted with artistic precision.
In true Jaguar fashion, technology enhances rather than overwhelms. Screens emerge silently from the dashboard, and the Clearsight display replaces traditional mirrors to offer unobstructed views. Meanwhile, a unique “Prism case” allows passengers to customise their environment with totems of natural materials, tailoring everything from ambient lighting to scents.
A Return to Artistry
What sets the Type 00 apart isn’t just its design but the way it reimagines the essence of luxury. At its core is Jaguar’s commitment to “Exuberant Modernism”—a design philosophy that is vibrant, future-facing, and rooted in the brand’s illustrious heritage. The unveiling at Miami Art Week underscores Jaguar’s alignment with art and creativity. The car wasn’t just a design statement but a cultural one, celebrating British artistry on a global stage.
What’s Next
Jaguar’s first new-generation electric car will be revealed in late 2025, built in the UK and aimed squarely at setting a new benchmark in luxury EVs. The brand’s transformation will also be reflected in exclusive new retail experiences, with a flagship store opening in Paris’s 8th arrondissement.
For a brand that once captivated the world with the E-type, Jaguar’s journey into electrification is more than a reinvention—it’s a renaissance. The Type 00 is proof that in a world of increasingly homogenised electric vehicles, Jaguar is determined to remain unapologetically different.
