A round-up of the most unforgettable walks from this year’s fashion extravaganza

If there’s one Indian event that brings together the biggest names in the fashion industry, it’s Lakmé Fashion Week. In partnership with FDCI, the four-day style spectacle was held at Jio World Garden in Mumbai from 9th to12th March 2023. From experimental collections by new players to stunning pieces by top designers, this year’s showcase packed a punch. Here, we’ve put together a list of the best runway moments from LFW x FDCI to highlight the crowd favourites.
1. Sushmita Sen for Anushree Reddy: Sushmita Sen walked the ramp for designer Anushree Reddy in style, wearing a yellow embroidered lehenga. The ‘Aarya’ actor had recently opened up about suffering a heart attack on social media.
2. Zeenat Aman for Shahin Mannan: In an iconic moment for both fashion and cinema, Zeenat Aman opened the show for Shahin Mannan’s collection ‘Circle’ at the age of 71. She wore a three-piece black and red outfit consisting of a blazer, button-down shirt, and tailored trousers.
3. Malaika Arora for Bhumika Sharma: Malaika Arora wore a red embroidered jacket with a matching bustier and gharara pants as the showstopper for Bhumika Sharma’s newest collection, ‘Dahlia’. The intricate embroidery, fit and flare silhouette, and high-waisted pants are worth a special mention
4. Karisma Kapoor for Ranna Gill: Showstopper Karisma Kapoor sported a shimmering golden ensemble for designer Ranna Gill. The dress was adorned with frills, appliqués, and extensive stitching, and it exuded grace and elegance.
5. Aditya Roy Kapur and Ananya Panday for Manish Malhotra: Aditya Roy Kapur and Ananya Panday stole the show when they turned showstoppers for Manish Malhotra. The duo walked side by side for the grand finale, with Ananya in a red and black checkered gown with a long jacket and Aditya in an all-black formal ensemble.
6. Ishaan Khatter for Siddartha Tytler: Ishaan Khatter looked sharp as he grooved down the runway for Siddartha Tytler. The collection was inspired by the glamorous decades of the 1980s, and gave street style and urban fashion a refreshingly modern appearance.
7. Tara Sutaria for Annu’s Creation: Tara flaunted an opulent rani pink lehenga as she turned showstopper for bridal wear brand, Annu’s creation. The lehenga was embellished with vibrant motifs and elaborate stitching, giving it a traditional yet elegant appeal.
8. Sara Ali Khan for Punit Balana: Sara Ali Khan’s showstopper outfit for Punit Balana was a vivid crimson lehenga, made in banarasi style for his collection ‘Utsav’. It was complimented by a plunging neckline and a hand-embroidered duapatta.
9. Shanaya Kapoor for Dyson x Arpita Mehta: Shanaya Kapoor looked stunning in a bandeau blouse and shimmering yellow sari designed by Arpita Mehta. Her beachy waves complemented the look.
10. Rashmika Mandanna for JJ Valaya: Rashmika Mandanna wore a black and gold saree with a backless blouse, which was made using fine thread work with crystals and beads.
11. Shilpa Shetty for Limerick by Abirr n’ Nanki: Shilpa Shetty strutted down the ramp wearing a violet bodycon jumpsuit and a long shrug from the ‘Song of the Valley’ collection, featuring the designers’ signature designs. The wearable collection explores the enduring beauty of traditional art forms while celebrating Kashmir’s rich cultural history.
