The recently-opened Humboldt Forum is a 30,000 square metre space in the heart of the city that presents high-profile exhibitions including the world-renowned Ethnological Museum and Asian Art Museum collections, with their outstanding art objects and artefacts from Africa, Asia, Oceania, and the American continent. Also, the Samurai Art Museum opens on 8th May, and showcases one of the world’s largest collections of samurai art, weapons and artefacts outside Japan. Contemporary Japanese art will be displayed alongside the armour, helmets, masks and swords of these legendary warriors. Beginning autumn 2022, the former home of Kunsthaus Tacheles—Berlin’s iconic art centre—will house Fotografiska, the renowned Swedish centre for contemporary photography, which will display works by internationally recognised photographers and serve as a venue for cultural events and creative dialogue. Another must-visit is Berlin‘s Museum Island which, with its five museums, is the largest museum ensemble in the world and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A pocket-friendly tip: admission is free on the first Sunday of each month!

Starting autumn 2020, the refurbished tower of the former Tempelhof Airport will become a tourist magnet that offers fantastic 360° panoramic views of Berlin. An exhibition space and rooftop terrace will also be open to visitors who wish to familiarise themselves with the artistic landscape and urban sights of the city.
The festivities will reach a crescendo next year, when Berlin becomes the first German city to host the Special Olympics World Games—where 7,000 athletes with disabilities will compete in 26 disciplines over nine days at the world’s largest inclusive sports event—from 17 to 25 June 2023. Museums and galleries will continue to present the seminal works of important artists from the past and present, and the cultural landscape of the city will remain as dynamic as ever, with a range of exciting offerings for tourists from across the world.
