This March, Delhi’s blooming spring will be graced by Birds of Paradise that promise togetherness, Peace Lilies that usher in prosperity, Red Salvias that bestow health and wisdom, and much more of nature’s propitious bounty! Botanical artist Salonika Meattle Aggarwal’s first solo show, which showcases 20 nature-inspired paintings and drawings that highlight the significance of natural elements as symbols of good luck to transform the energies of your home, will be on display at Bikaner House in New Delhi from 23rd to 31st March 2022.
A management professional who pursued her post-graduation in the field from University of Cambridge, and has completed an art course from College of Art, Edinburgh, Scotland; Salonika has now launched a well-curated exhibition of vibrant and intricate art. Her vivid brushstrokes utilise colour generously, to create paintings that closely replicate realistic views of lush greenery. In these works, the observer will discover thickly populated green vistas with generously large palms, sumptuously bright flowers, and shining bright perennials perched against a pristine blue sky.
Having inherited an appreciation for flora and fauna from her father, well-known environmentalist Kamal Meattle, Salonika believes in combining the healing power of plants and art. As she puts it, “My father has been an environmentalist for the last 30 plus years. Also, we have always lived surrounded by a lot of greenery. Hence my interest in flora and fauna. I am an animal lover as well along with being a pranic healer and I use my energies to bring positive chi into people’s lives.”
Salonika’s unique approach positions art as a reminder of nature’s beauty and a source of pleasant vibrations within the space these works inhabit, inviting viewers to experience the palpable joy and tranquillity of each piece that has been mindfully selected as part of the exhibition. The solo art show will be open from 11 AM to 6 PM, Wednesday onwards until the end of March.
