Ever left your room spot-free and within days found it in the exact same mess it had been? Yeah, we’ve all been there.
Follow these 9 simple tricks to escape the endless loop of cluttering and de-cluttering so your bedroom speaks minimal all times:
Coming home to bright hues could be tiring on your eyes, making you all the more restless. Substitute for neutral colors instead like those of beige, olive, soft grey, ivory, or baby blue and then you may blend them with contrasts to make your room look fresh and sorted out.
Avoid clustering your bed with many layers and items. A simple linen sheet with just a few pillows in white or/and soft shades is a good way to turn over the messier frame your room has been having. It’ll make you want to curl up immediately.
If you’re deciding to move out or move in, choose a room with the most natural light as your bedroom. It’s not only good for your health but also helps soften the vibe of the room; gold rays of the warm sunshine bouncing on the walls are sure to make you smile and feel better instantly.
Keeping a nightstand is convenient for so many reasons, especially when you’re just about to doze off or feeling lazy. Place a tray or bowl on there as well so you know your precious trinkets are in a safe space.
Color corners with a pop of green by bringing in plants to your room! Succulents are a wonderful option while lavenders and rosemary could also be used. The idea is to bring some contrast to the otherwise soft background so make sure you don’t crowd it with too many of these greens. Pots in neutral tones add the extra points.
Filling spaces on the walls isn’t exactly minimal. However we definitely don’t want to keep things boring. So to liven things up, bottle in some fairy lights or directly pin them to the wall in fun patterns. You can also use the space to showcase your favorite artwork! Remember: the trick is to stay minimal.
7 Step up on rugs and mats
With less furniture and more space, you can always throw in a rug or carpet to cover up some floor and add that last bit of pop to your room. Also, nobody likes stepping on cold floor first thing in the morning.
8 Invest in wooden articles
Wood adds the right amount of contemporary mixed with homely. Invest in wooden floors or wooden furniture like for your nightstand or chairs to hint into a naturally welcoming ambience. Wooden bed frames are also in trend these days.
9 Keep the furniture grounded
Literally. Low-slung furniture, especially the bed, makes the ceiling look taller and gives off the perfect minimal look with more space and less cluster. It also works well for feng shui. Choose platform beds and low-seating stools to create the look.
10 Play with materials and textures
If sticking to one color palette is really not your taste, you can always bounce to and fro different textures and materials. Try velvet, cashmere, woolen, cotton and of course, patterns from geometrical and floral to everything in between. Go for what speaks minimal and ‘you’.
Whatever you envision – from chic and classy, vintage and epoch to simply contemporary – declutter and minimalize for a neater room and mind alike.
