GREEN TEA
Green tea contains a rich concentration of flavonoids and polyphenols, natural antioxidants that may protect cells from cancer-causing substances and inhibit tumour growth. The tea’s antioxidants may also guard against heart disease by relaxing blood vessels, inhibiting the formation of blood clots that trigger heart attacks and strokes.
HOT CHOCOLATE
Chocolate increases the production of the neurotransmitter serotonin, which is responsible for regulating mood. (Low levels of serotonin have been associated with depression.) Cocoa is also rich in polyphones, plant-derived antioxidants that may protect cells against oxidative damage that can lower HDL (good) cholesterol levels, possibly putting you at higher risk for a heart attack.
CARROT-ORANGE JUICE
Freshly made juices, your body can absorb the nutrients better than eating whole fruits and vegetables and it gives your digestive system a rest from working on fibre. Carrots are known for being a good source of beta-carotene, fibre, vitamin K, and potassium. Carrots have been linked to lower cholesterol levels and improved eye health perfectly compliment oranges that boost the immune system since it is high in Vitamin C and low in calories.
COCONUT-KALE SMOOTHIE
Don’t turn your nose up at healthy green smoothies if the colour doesn’t appeal. Many green smoothies are sweet, delicious, and ultra-satisfying; even if their colour gives away that they’re ultra-healthy, too. This smoothie is no exception. The combination of coconut water and fruit provide a refreshing foundation for green leaves of kale and mint. A burst of citrus from fresh lime juice balances out the tang of the greens and the coconut water for a fast and easy breakfast smoothie.
KALE SMOOTHIE WITH PINEAPPLE & BANANAS
Kale salads are always a welcome way to get loads of vitamins A, K, and C, but if you’ve grown tired of eating a leafy dish at every meal, you can get all the goodness of the greens in a smoothie.
