In the stressful schedule of our lives today, physical and mental well being has taken a back seat. One of the best ways to gain fitness and mental calmness is Yoga.
Whether you are young or old, overweight or fit, yoga has the power to calm the mind and strengthen the body. ”Yoga is one of the most effective ways to increase flexibility. Regular practice increases concentration and can maintain a balance with the body at any age” comments Sonia Bajaj, Health Coach.
“Fitness is a vast subject. It is not restricted to lifting heavy weights just meditating. It has varied components to it including speed, power, balance, flexibility and strength. Yoga enters here, as an important ingredient of health and fitness. It also connects the mind, body and soul.”
Here are 5 of the most basic Yoga Asanas which you can practice anywhere in case of a hectic schedule.
Bend your knee and place your toe at the root of your thigh with your hands in a ‘Namaskar’ pose over your head, stretched straight.
Stretch your hands to the front palms bending downwards without bending your elbows, with your knees bending, and lower your pelvis like on an imaginary chair. Keep your spine firm.
Lie flat on your back and lift you’re both legs. Keep legs straight and raise your upper body to touch your legs with both hands. Maintain it for a minute and relax.
Lie on your stomach with flat toes and forehead on the ground. Slowly lift your head and chest, keeping your navel on the floor, putting your torso back with the help of your hands.
Sit with your legs stretched out. Tug your left foot under your right thigh and keep your hands on your knees.
Practicing these basic Yoga asanas everyday will not only help in flexibility, but will also improve blood circulation and digestion in the body. It will be responsible for regulating the function of liver and lungs too. Apart from the physical benefits; it is also responsible for the mental health and positivity in the body. It rejuvenates the mind and helps in maintaining a positive attitude and mindset.
Yoga has proven to be one of the most helpful life quality enhancers, which is suggested to everyone.
