Created exclusively for the ultra-luxury market, One&Only is conceived as a hallmark of excellence. So, when the One&Only Le Saint Géran in Mauritius went through the process of renovation, we were sure that the outcome of a multi-million-dollar facelift would be exquisite. And, to tell you the truth, we are more than impressed!

Mauritius’ much-loved resort, One&Only Le Saint Géran, started welcoming back guests recently, following a nine-month renovation and multi-million-dollar investment which has transformed the legend into a modern icon, and one of the top resorts in the world. Boasting the ultimate location on the north-eastern coast of the island, One&Only Le Saint Géran is setting new standards of ultra-luxury in the Indian Ocean and beyond, much like it did when it originally opened in 1975.

The opening was marked by Philippe Zuber, President and Chief Operating Officer, One&Only Resorts, Charles de Foucault, General Manager at One&Only Le Saint Géran andThe Honourable Marie Joseph Noël-Etienne GhislainSinatambou, MP, Minister of Social Security, Reform Institutions and Environment, and Sustainable Development for Mauritius, for a ribbon-cutting ceremony as the first guests arrived.

“It is wonderful to be here for the opening of this much-loved resort. I have incredibly fond memories of One&Only Le Saint Géran, and am so thrilled to see how it has been completely transformed. The team have worked incredibly hard, and I want to thank them for their passion and dedication as they continue to offer our discerning guests experiences that truly blow them away” said Philippe Zuber, President and Chief Operating Officer, One&Only Resorts. He further added, “We have so much to be proud of, not only with the re-launch of this legendary property, but also with the expansion of the One&Only brand. We look forward to welcoming guests back to our beautiful resort in Mauritius, as well as to all of our existing properties around the world, and those soon to come.”

Retaining the private peninsula

Long hailed as the legendary iconic luxury retreat in Mauritius, One&Only Le Saint Géran retains what guests have always loved – a sense of exclusive seclusion on its own private peninsula with a beachfront and calm lagoon unlike any other resort on the island. However, the entire resort has been completely transformed, including dynamic new culinary experiences with overwater dining pavilions and innovative theatre style cooking, new playful swimming pools with cabanas, reimagined public spaces, a stunning new spa, Club One, and a range of ultra-modern facilities.

“After much anticipation, it is an honor to begin welcoming guests to One&Only Le Saint Géran and celebrate the rebirth of this truly global icon,” said Charles de Foucault, General Manager at One&Only Le Saint Géran. “We have ensured to preserve what our guests have always loved about the resort but also to dream and create incredible new experiences for our guests to discover. This reopening not only marks an exciting transformation for the resort, but embodies One&Only’s distinctive vision to redefine the meaning of ultra-luxury.”

The exquisite offerings

The nine months have seen a comprehensive redesign process in which the much-loved colonial-style architecture has been preserved whilst a cool, contemporary beach inspired design celebrating Mauritian lifestyle and culture has been introduced. There are 143 new guest rooms and suites with interconnecting configurations for families as well as Villa One – a secluded two-bedroom villa with private infinity-pool and spectacular ocean views.

One&Only Le Saint Géran is pioneering new offerings both inside and outside the resort – from the introduction of the island’s first Padel Courts at the new Club One, and a contemporary Pan-Asian tapas restaurant, Tapasake, perched on stilts over the lagoon and unlike any other restaurant in Mauritius – through to a carefully curated collection of once-in-a-lifetime experiences on the island, immersing guests into local culture and nature.

Enhancing the excellent service standards

T

he unrivalled One&Only service standards will be upheld by the dedicated staff who have kept their positions throughout the renovation, ensuring the resort’s guests, both new and returning, receive a truly warm welcome. Charles de Foucault said, “I am privileged to lead such a passionate, loyal team, many of whom have worked with One&Only Le Saint Géran for several decades. We have taken this opportunity to provide further training to ensure the staff are developing their skills as well as offering guests the ultimate in service – something we have become renowned for. It is thanks to this amazing team that our guests return to Mauritius year after year.”

What’s more, exciting plans to launch One&Only Private Homes for the first time at One&Only Le Saint Géran have been unveiled. Due to launch in 2018, the resort will boast a collection of private residences for guests wishing to make the resort home. Secluded villas with their own pools will be introduced with a full suite of amenities and resort services for residents to enjoy the Mauritian life, One&Only style. Private homes will also be available to purchase at One&Only’s new resorts which are currently in development in Montenegro, Greece and Mexico.
