Story behind the fad:

With the ever evolving fashion industry providing luxury sartorial solution for your every need, the overlooked category of nightwear is now one of the competitive areas.  To add to that, sales of lingerie stores have been noted to surge recently by more than 30%.

In 2015, Kate Moss was seen in a striking pair of black and white striped silk pyjamas by the designer Olivia von Halle, once flying home from Turkey and again during her launch of interior design project with company Yoo. The pyjamas went sold out due to their dual appearance in the same issue of Vogue.

Von Halle commenced her label in 2011 inspired by the lounging pyjamas worn by Coco Chanel in the 1920s and soon celebrated selling to the esteemed. Offering an amalgamation of luxury, glamour and comfort , the designs did unexpectedly well and displayed longevity in the industry. Their adaptation to daywear and into the prevailing fashion arena was propelled by being too good to be only worn to bed.

The evolution into the ‘posh pyjama’ also fed into the movement towards merged men’s and women’s clothing and the idea of easy yet elegant dressing.
